I’m sure you had seen this face somewhere before. You see his face on the newspaper, on the net, and on national TV. I know he’s kinda famous and all, but what I don’t understand why on earth Malaysia is he getting so much attention?

It’s a year since he reached planet earth safely, but i think it’s never too late for me to whine about his unjust popularity.

Ok, ok. Many may wanna start throwing rotten tomatoes at me, but I’m still gonna continue anyway. What is so special about this Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor anyway? (I bet half of the readers don’t know his name since we only label him as Angkasawan Negara).

The NASA is unwilling to credit him as an ‘Astronaut’, but instead labelled him as ‘Space Passenger’. Well, you can tell by the food he brought with him to space: briyani ayam, satay ayam, rendang tok, kepingan mangga kering, gulungan pisang, tempe, jeli halia, Roselle Granola bar and kuih raya bangkit. He actually brought these food to celebrate Hari Raya outside earth. yea, he’s actually just took a tour to the outer space, and after having his dinner, he came back to earth.

I for one disagree with the whole Program Angkasawan Negara thing. Our Malaysian government spent RM105 million to send this doctor to the outer space, and Astro set up a whole new channel (Angkasa1 pronounce as Angkasawan, channel 588) to follow up with the astronaut’s progress, showing Malaysians our first ever angkasawan in action. After 10 days floating in the space, he’s back as a whole new man: he’s no longer his old self, he’s now a CELEBRITY.

Face it. Cosmonut cosmonaut is treated like a celebrity in Malaysia. However, what i am not satisfied with is the costs in the making of this National Astronaut. RM105 millions?! 8TV gave birth to two celebrities: Suki and Faizal through its renowned reality programme One in a Million. The best thing is we get to vote for them. But RM105 millions and no votes? This is unacceptable.

Angkasawan Negara deserved a poster like this one.

Whatever! I’m just not satisfied with what I’d seen, but all that I can do is to blog it here.
